The CHARITY PROJECT

Every year, Weekend Biennale has a charitable objective aimed especially at children.

Take a look here at all the projects we have supported so far.

The Weekend Biennale’s support for the Order of Malta’s mission in Ukraine is continuing.
In cooperation with the municipality of Kiev, this project has an orphanage for children aged 0 – 8 at its focus.

The aim is to set up a playground with outdoor play structures. Concrete help from you together with Weekend Biennale to bring a smile to Ukrainian children victims of war.

The war on Europe’s doorstep brutally entered our daily lives last February. With promptness, the Grand Priory of Lombardy and Venice (northern Italy) responded to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine by activating multiple projects.

The one that Weekend Biennale is supporting supports families who have arrived in Italy after a dangerous flight. We are here to help them in a new country.
This includes support in every area of life: health, housing, education, legal issues and a hand to hold in times of loneliness.

They have been received in hospitality centers, especially women with children. They received school books, clothes, and extracurricular education during the summer period.

Since the last Weekend Biennale in November 2019, many changes have come to Venice and its inhabitants. Two days after we concluded the last edition, Venice was struck by the worst Acqua Alta (high tide) since 1966.
The city was able to get back on its feet soon after considerable damage, but in February a new tragedy hit: COVID-19 pandemic. The virus brought serious economic losses from lock-downs and restrictions on tourism. Many lives were irreversibly damaged and a number of businesses and artisanal workshops have since closed forever. The impact of the novel coronavirus outbreak affected many families that were already struggling to afford basic services, such as access to healthcare, electronic devices for distance schooling or even paying household bills.

In the spirit of the Order of Malta, caring for people in need, we decided not to organize the usual three days of visits, culture and fun, but rather to invent a different way to spend time together.
Moving forward, Weekend Biennale strives to collect money to support its new philanthropic project dedicated to “Venetian Families in Need”. An amount has already been pledged by sponsors, who generously decided to donate despite the event not taking place this year.
Weekend Biennale’s goal is to contribute to a dignified existence for Venetian families in need.

For its 2019 edition, Weekend Biennale created and supports the ‘Pia Lanfranchi Sammartini’ project. The aim is to be able to take children and young people suffering from physio-pathological, psychological difficulties on a pilgrimage to Lourdes. The care of these patients is very delicate and demanding, which is why it is necessary to provide qualified personnel.

Once again this year, Weekend Biennale continues to support the ‘San Pio X Family House’ in Venice on the Giudecca island, in order to complete the renovation of spaces for the benefit of mothers and children in need.

This year Weekend Biennale also promotes the participation of families with sick children in the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes.

The proceeds raised by Weekend Biennale will be donated to the ‘San Pio X Family House – Venice’ on the Giudecca island. The project aims to restore some existing spaces for the benefit of mothers and children in need of help and support.

For the second year in a row, Weekend Biennale supports the Alzheimer’s project. It is a training course for the families and Order of Malta’s volunteers involved in caring for people suffering from Alzheimer’s syndrome. For two months, the spaces of the Venice Delegation will host specialized personnel who will explain cognitive rehabilitation techniques involving the patients themselves.

Weekend Biennale intends to help as many families as possible to have access to the project.
